International Warranty Service Policy — U.S. Orders Shipped Overseas

If your watch was originally purchased and delivered within the United States, your warranty coverage remains fully valid even if you later move or reside outside the U.S.

However, when a U.S.-purchased watch is sent back to our service center from an international location, certain customs and import conditions may apply once the repaired item returns to your country.

1. Customs Duties, Taxes, and Import Fees

When a serviced or repaired watch is shipped back to a customer outside the United States, local customs authorities may assess import duties, VAT, or handling fees — even when:

  • The package is declared as a “Returned Warranty Repair” or “Returned Goods.”
  • The declared customs value is $0.00.
  • The watch was originally purchased in the U.S. and no international import fees were paid at that time.

These fees are determined by your country’s customs agency and are outside of our control. Customs clearance procedures vary by country, and in some cases, even packages marked correctly may still generate additional charges for inspection, processing, or delivery.

2. Customer Responsibility

If you choose to send your watch to the U.S. for warranty service while living abroad:

  • You acknowledge and accept that any customs duties, taxes, or additional handling fees charged upon re-entry into your country will be your responsibility.
  • Vaer is not able to cover, refund, or reimburse these fees, as they are applied independently by international customs offices and local couriers.

3. Customs and Shipping Conditions (General Explanation)

Most countries assess import or handling charges based on:

  • The declared value of the shipment (even if low or $0, inspection may still occur).
  • The description (e.g., “repaired goods,” “warranty return,” or “used item”).
  • The local customs laws and thresholds for imports.
  • Additional administrative, processing, or delivery fees applied by local couriers or postal services.

Even when we correctly mark the package as a “Returned Warranty Repair” and include supporting documentation, customs officials may still require payment before releasing the package to the recipient.

4. Acknowledgment

By proceeding with an international warranty claim for a watch originally purchased within the U.S., you agree to these conditions and understand that:

  • Vaer will declare the return shipment as a “Warranty Repair” with a declared value of $0.00.
  • Any taxes, duties, or handling charges applied by your local customs authorities are the customer’s responsibility.
